Cheonggyecheon

Chenggyecheon is a spectacular canal running through the heart of downtown Seoul.  It used to be covered by an overpass, but it was torn down five years ago to make this public walkway.  Because it’s below street level, it’s a pretty remarkable feeling to walk along the banks.  You hear rushing water but very little traffic, although it’s practically right on top of you.

I walked the length of Cheonggyecheon and felt incredibly relaxed afterwards.  Tranquil, even.
