Courtney Barnett, “Pedestrian At Best”
To start 2016 on a more positive bloggerated point of interest, Courtney Barnett’s 2015 release Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit is awesome. The lyrics are insanely sharp and withering and absurd, reminding me of the best Pavement, but also rooted in frank sexual confessions like the best Liz Phair.
It’s also very against-type, in that she writes about living in a sunny, idyllic Melbourne that’s less sunshine and surfing and more pills and self-loathing.
So this is me being optmistic about 2016! Have a great year!
