I guess I can’t avoid sounding like a gloating douchebag about this but hey there Nader and Green Party supporters from 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 — gay marriage is going to become a reality in our lifetimes because that no-good, NSA-spyin’, drone-lovin’ Kenyan Muslim Fascist was elected in 2008 and got to make solid nominations to an egregiously right-wing Supreme Court. Meanwhile, millions of your fellow citizens who might happen to be your family or friends are going to have access to affordable health-care and won’t get dumped due to having cancer or some other critical disease. And I’m going to take a wild-guess here and assume that if Romney had won in 2012, the status of the on-going war on women and their reproductive rights would probably be a hell of a lot worse now than it actually is (granted, this isn’t something any American should be proud of).
All of which is to say, let’s fight to get better candidates elected at the local and state levels, but for now a third-party vote is basically one-half of a vote for Romney or Ryan or Rand Paul or Rubio or whatever neanderthal the GOP decides to put up for 2016. And yeah, I’m calling you out directly in advance.
