Fortune Teller shop, Daegu, South Korea.
These little places are everywhere in South Korea, and with the Lunar New Year approaching they’re usually filled with young couples checking their compatibility or businessmen seeing if now is the time to go all in on a business deal or venture.
“Saju” is the Korean word for “four pillars,” or the year, month, day, and time you were born. It’s a version of a horoscope, basically.
What’s interesting is how European style Tarot cards have caught on as well. I’ve never visited a fortune teller here myself (it’s on my to-do list), but from what I gather the older generation sticks with the traditional saju-style while the younger generation likes the tarot readers. Presumably this place does a mix of both.
